One month, to the day

since this mama has made a card! Boy, did it feel good! I bought a couple of new digis a few weeks ago and I have been ever so eager to try them out. I got a Tickled Pink steampunk stamp, and a greeting farm cupcake anya. LOVE!!!

The first challenge that I worked on was the Tickled Pink sketch challenge. Loved the sketch. I used my new steampunk image. LOVE this style! :D So outside the box! I wanted to make sure she had maximum tude factor so I added some pink feathering in her hair.
The papers are all from Crate Paper, and the bling is Recollections. The flower is prima and I distressed it with some Tim Holtz ink. Same with the image. Whaddya think?

Next, I went back to a challenge blog that I love to frequent; Cupcake Inspirations. There is always something interesting and inspiring over at that blog! For their challenge this week, I thought that Cupcake Anya would be perfect. The papers are some I have had for a very long time. Can't tell you the name of the company for certain. Same with the accessories. This was kinda a stash card for me. I love the blammo color combo for this challenge. That is was truly inspired me!
For the last challenge (YES, I managed to SCRAP as WELL!!) I went to the Got Sketch? challenge blog and was instantly sure I had to do this week's challenge over there! The papers are from Michaels. I can't tell you the brand. I accidentally disposed of that part of the paper. I used my cricut (Accent Essentials) for the circles across the top, and for the lettering (storybook). I tried to make the letters look like they were behaving like lightning bugs. Hehe. Lots of bling for the lights. The flowers and bugs are from K and Company.
My boy loves lightning bugs (actually, he calls them lightning BUTTS), ((bad mommy)) and is highly offended if for some reason if he isn't able to catch a few EVERY NIGHT, so lots of photo ops this summer. Hehe. This page was fun to do! Thanks for the sketch!

Hope you all out there have fun this weekend and make sure to pamper those dads!! Stay crafty!

Just a couple

I made some cards yesterday. So fun! When I cut back my crafting it was painful to my heart, but it was, as I had suspected, for the best. I have had so much more ability to focus on my family and the home and its been wonderful. I do wish sometimes that would make the time, but as much as I love it and miss it, it truly has been worth the time off. I am in no way "back" in full force, but you will see me around every now and then. I could never completely give up paper. No way, no how!

So yesterday I cranked out 2 cards for challenges. This first card was for Card Makin Mamas. This time around they have a recipe challenge. 3 different kinds of embellishments (brads, stickers, ribbon), 2 patterned papers (for me, plaid and polka dots) and 1 image (Some Odd Girl, Dancin Mae). I have a great love for Some Odd girl AND Card Makin Mamas, so this card worked out awesomely!
The next card that I made was for Cupcake Craft Challenges. Love their challenges. Never a dull one to be sure! Their theme is "In the garden" and I thought Hello Ian, and these garden papers from The Paper Studio. LOVE! Throw on a couple of prima flowers and some trim, and this card was garden-y sweet! I added the cardboard because it reminded me of a little garden fence.
Hope you all enjoy! Stay crafty!

Card Makin Mamas # 18

18?? Really only two more until 20? Wow!!

I am excited about this week's challenge. "Embellish It". Fantastic! Open for so many interpretations! I took the opportunity to use some hand made embellishments that were inspired by ScrappinBee. Great, fun, easy and pack a punch!

We are being sponsored this time around by Wink, Wink, Ink. I fell IN LOVE with Wooly Bear! HAD to have him! My Noah loves "Pillies" and this image was so much fun! He loves it too!

Please excuse the photo quality. Silly rain...makes even light box photography a nightmare. ::sigh:: Hope you enjoy this splash of spring color (didn't I use these colors last time around??) Stay crafty! Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT entries!!

Card Makin Mamas, #17

I can't believe how this blog has exploded! I never thought in a million years that there would be so many Card Makin Mamas in the blog-o-sphere!! Thanks to all of you for making it AH-mazing!!

This time around we want to see animals! Any kind of animal. We are being sponsored by Karen's Doodles and she was gracious enough to let us work with her images. When I saw this bunny, I had to have! There was no question!

As a lot of you know I have been creatively blocked for about 2 weeks. SO frustrating. Having all of these ideas and not being able to turn them out takes its mental tole! BUT, thank goodness its back....hopefully to stay! Phew!

I wanted to do something different so I just googled a few words to see what I could come up with. I really wanted some jelly beans in this project, for whatever reason...and I came across this post. Simply fantastic! Mine doesn't hold a candle construction-wise, but I love it anyway!

Don't forget to pop over and check out the rest of the design team's work! Stay Crafty!

Rawer!!

Today I am one of the cuties being featured over at Hello Cutie

In this project I used a skirt from 99 cent day at goodwill, buttons from a suit jacket...also from 99 cent day, and the mouth was cut from an old jacket.

I was inspired by: Rebecca Danger and her lil monsters. Since I can't knit for anything, I used a knitted material and sewed it together. Isn't he darling? I can't wait to make more lil creatures!!

Be sure to check out the other ladies being featured over at Hello Cuties today, and Stay Crafty!

Today Hello Cutie Goes Live

I am so excited to share this new and fantastic blog started up by sweet friend, Lizzie! Hello Cutie Challenges. Its a great new challenge blog for any kind of crafter. Until the last 6 months or so, I was almost strictly a paper crafter, but I am finding that I actually enjoy so many kinds of things! This blog is going to be chock full of inspiration for every kind of crafter and I can't wait to get started!

This first challenge is a fantastic color challenge!!

I think this color palate will go in my permanent color inspiration! Its fantastic! Here is my project. A card for a friend/co-worker of mine who recently found out she is pregnant. I used a Stamping Bella stamp, and My Minds Eye Papers with K and Company Papers. I used Studio K Fun Flock for the teddy bear and tried to add lots of other details.

I can't wait to see what you crafties come up with! I would love to see my Card Makin Mamas support a fellow card makin mama in her new venture! Stay crafty!

I can't wait to see what you talented crafters come up with. You have seriously been knocking our socks off over at Card Makin Mamas, making it very difficult to choose a top 3! More like, top 100! ACK! Have fun, think green, and stay crafty!

Spring Feverin and Craftin

Woot! I can feel spring. Its just out of reach.....So close! Bought 4 tanks and some shorts and capris the other week! Wait, FIVE tanks! Yeah...I am ready. Lets go! Need some green!! Need some warmth!

How about some cards for warmth? I wish I could share them all, but alas, I can't. They are for some DT projects, BUT, I can share these with you.

This first card is for Cupcake Craft Challenges. Their theme this week is Cake N Icecream. I thought this image from Papermom was perfect for this challenge! It wasn't as daring as I was hoping it would be, but it turned out kinda sweet. Sweet is good....since its a cake and all.
This second card was made for the Paper Players. I have been really wanting to get into their blog challenges, so here is my first submission. I really liked their sketch this time around and I had these papers staring at me begging to be made into something. I decided to step outside the box and NOT use a stamped image. Instead, I used this bling flourish from Recollections. I also sewed some fun zig zags and such around the edges.
Hope you all really enjoy these. Don't forget to pop over to Card Makin Mamas and participate in our Birthday challenge! And make it "snappy!" You could win 4 images from Meljin!!
Stay Crafty!!!

Scallops Galore

Hello, all! I trust you are having a fantastic week!

This will be my last post as an Oddie, and I must say that it makes me sad. I love this team, and Some Odd Girl! The company embodies so much of what I love about creativity! At the same time, I am so grateful and happy to have been able to spend this time getting to know so many wonderful, inspirational people through this and I know that my crafting is better for having met them!

So, without further ado, here is "Scallops Galore". I simply adored this image and HAD to play with it! I received this paper as a RAK last year and kept wondering what I would use it for....Tah-daaahhhh....can't find a better match than this!!
I can't wait to see what you all come up with for this challenge. I see a lot of nesties in this post, lol! Stay crafty!

So distressed!

I recently won a gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp and with it I bought the most delicious paper pack! Crate Paper RESTORATION. I literally want to eat it, LOL! I was so inspired!

So...this first card is for the Tickled Pink sketch challenge this week. I have been wanting a few of these stamps and finally bought my first yesterday. 20's Lolita. LOVE her! I took the opportunity to paper piece with a digi for the first time as well yesterday. Will be doing it a LOT more now!

I beaded her dress along with the paper piecing. I distressed the papers, and had fun mixing and matching the patterns in this paper pack. I swear this card basically made itself. All I provided was the tools. :)
This next card is for Anyone For Anya and Friends (pretty bows) as well as Tuesday Morning Sketches (heavy metal). I also got this "Hello Ian" at Simon Says Stamp. I have had my eye on him since I was introduced to The Greeting Farm AGES and ages ago. Finally, he is mine and it was well worth the wait! As you can see, I have a distressed bow for Anya, but I also have staples for Heavy Metal. I loved working with these elements together.
Hope you all are enjoying your week's end. We are snowed it...AGAIN....seriously, this never happens in TN. What's the deal?? Ohs, well! Not much to be done for it! Stay crafty!

Card Makin Mamas #13

Its that time again! Another wonderful 2 week challenge from us over at Card Makin Mamas! This time around its a sketch by yours truly. It was one of the first sketches I ever "sketched"!

For challenge 13 we have sponsor Totally Stampalicious! This company has good quality images and a great since of humor!

Here is the card I made with their birthday cake image! It was fun to color and the lines were crisp! I like that in a digi!

Incidentally, it wasn't my intention to use the same papers and colors as the last challenge. It just so happened that was the mood I was in, LOL!

Be sure to check out everything the rest of the design team has to show you! Stay crafty!

And Now I'm A Robot

So, in light of another impending snow day and Noah's already boredom.....Mommy decided to make Noah an optimus mask. For whatever reason he has talked a lot about Optimus Prime lately and since he does enjoy playing pretend I thought it would be fun to see if I could make a respectable mask for him.

I started with some felt that I had from AGES ago. I bought it to make embellishments out of. Its made from recycled coke bottles and such and is a lot stronger than your run-of-the-mill felt. Perfect for a little boy project, right??

I knew that since supplies were limited I would need a pattern to be sure I had everything right before I started snipping. I wanted something simple, but something that you could mostly tell who or what it was supposed to be.
So, once everything was sketched out I cut the pattern apart and cut the felt with my patterns.
Now, some of you may be noticing that I have brown felt in the places that should be gray (trust me, the kid noticed, LOL!) I didn't have the right color, so I decided to paint the brown gray. It worked like a dream. Unreal! It was a real risk since I was almost out of felt! I used my heat gun to dry the paint so that I could finish everything up and so Noah didn't have to wait. (because we all know how hard it is to wait for 3 mintues, right?) *note* be careful if you do use a heat gun on felt. It is made from plastic, and WILL MELT! (I got lucky, lol)
I used my hot glue gun to attach everything to the mask. I did have some technical difficulties with the pattern once everything was assembled. The eyes were too wide-set, so Noah couldn't see out. He also said it was squishing his nose, so we snipped a little more there too. I may go back with my bic markers later and add some detailing, but for now, here is the result and my very happy little boy.

*note...he still claims to be BORED and have nothing to do....ummm...okay....cause I didn't just make you a mask and print pictures for you to paint and find your transformer toys in that black hole you call a toy box....

Hope you enjoyed another non paper post. I DO plan to do some paper-y things later, but with the way Noah is acting, that remains to be seen. Stay crafty!

For The Kids

Hello there! Are you enjoying your week? Enjoying the week long bloggie goodness?? I sure am!

Today we want to see what your kids can do!! If yours are anything like mine, they love to play with your scrap paper, markers, ink and images. Noah especially loves Tobie and Buddy because he thinks they look like him and his dog owen.

Here is the card he made. He picked out most of the paper and placed everything and colored all by himself.

So the challenge is just this: get the kids involved! Have you child color an image, make a card, or whatever they like! As long as it contains a Some Odd Girl Digi that they've made their own that's an entry in! Your entries here all get added to the big draw so share some crop time with your lil ones, you know they love coloring just as much as you do! Link it up below by January 23rd, end of day.  The winner of this challenge will get an appropriate prize of 2 Tinies of their very own NEVER BEFORE SEEN. Both are a part of our Spring release on March 1st.

These colors are based on the Some Odd Girl logo. How much more inspiring can you be?? Here is my example using Mer Mae:
I used papers from DCWV and some thickers. The beaded accents came from a friend as a RAK.

Just like all our challenges this week your entry is due to be linked up by the end of day January 23 EST. and for all our challenges this week you MUST use a Some Odd Girl digi. Need a new digi for the challenge? Check out what sale might be going on in the shop!

Some Odd Girl Anniversary Day 3

Have you been having fun this week? I have! I love all the odd things going on in the blog-o-sphere! Its truly inspiring!

Today Kristy is sharing the history of Some Odd Girl, so be SURE to go over and check it out! She is an amazing woman with many, many talents!

I stumbled upon Some Odd Girl on a blog one week and have been addicted ever since. I made my first card on day one of the Nashville Flood, 2010 and used this freebie Mae. Everything about the image was inspiring. I swear theis card made itself! Here is the card:
Soon after that I made the top 3 on the Some Odd Girl Challenge Blog with this card using Hang Ten Kody (another monthly freebie). Thought I would be brave and use flowers for a boy. Guess it worked out!
I was super lucky, blessed...whatever you want to call it, when I was chosen to be a part of the second design team for Some Odd girl. I was so excited I LITERALLY danced and jumped around! To be a part of such talent and inspiration was and is the highlight of my crafty career!!

Here was my stepping out project using Baker Kaylee: (another good example of 1 image, 3 ways!!)
Hope you are enjoying this mini hop! Next stop for you will be,  Robin F!

Sew Happy

Alright! Time for another one of my offity posts! Yes, I did some more "sewing" projects! I LOVE the craftaholics anonymous blog and wish that I had the time and recourses to do all of her projects, but when I came across this post on wrist warmers the other week I HAD to make some! They were just too cute. Not sure what I will use them for, but for the time being they are keeping my hands and wrists warm while allowing me to type, so, I count that as a viable use.

Off to Goodwill I went yesterday for 99 cent day looking for the perfect sweater to cut up and found one! I also found a fantastic men's jacket with these great buttons on it. So, without further ado, here they are! (Elli, YOU might like a pair of these. Got any old sweaters???)

Another great tutorial I played with today was also from craftaholics anonymous. This Zipper Daisy. Lucky me, I had 2 things ready to go TO goodwill that had great zippers on them, so I got to seam ripping and sewing and gluing and here was my end result. I am going to either get a great headband to mount it on, or make a broach out of it. At the moment I am sick and need to stay in in order to get well before Wed. SO, I will wait on that.
Hope you enjoy a "non-paper" post every now and again! Stay Crafty!

1 Image, 3 projects!

Today for the anniversary of Some Odd Girl, we are proposing a challenge. (click here)

Use ONE digital image and use it THREE ways. Flip it, resize it, manipulate it...whatever. One image, Three Ways.

Here was my take on this challenge.
I used Sprinkles to create a background paper and then enlarged him and also used the "Hey Cupcake" sentiment throughout the projects. I actually combined two of the projects.

The first was a card with background paper. I used 2 different distressing inks and cotton candy and black stickles to accent everything. The black I used for the word "cupcake".
The second and third were this tin I altered with an enlarged cupcake image and the four tags inside. For the tags I also used the background paper I created with the image and then a shrunk version of the sentiments. I frayed some ribbon for the tags too.
This was a very thought provoking challenge and I really enjoyed doing it! I hope to see you all inspired by it too!

Just like all our challenges this week your entry is due to be linked up by the end of day January 23 EST. and for all our challenges this week you MUST use a Some Odd Girl digi. Need a new digi for the challenge? Check out what sale might be going on in the shop!

Oh, and what will you be playing for?? Since its the toughest challenge of the week, I've got not only 3 digis of your choice from Some Odd Girl, but a $10 gift certificate to Oozak.com! C'mon, you know you were going to shop there anyway, best price on Copics hands down! So you can put it towards your next order :)

Stay crafty!!

All challenge entries are due by Jan 23 at midnight EST. Winner announcements and a new contest announcement on Monday Jan 24th.

Ah, sweet crafty release!

It feels so good to kind of be back on a routine and to finally be catching up!! Today and yesterday I have been able to craft and it feels wonderful!

The first card that I made was actually for a combination of a few challenges, something I try not ever to do, but it just worked out this time. Stamptacular Sunday has a fantastic photo challenge going on. Its a beautiful, elegant cream and gold hued wedding gown. Cupcake Craft Challenges has a "white is white" challenge and Cute Card Thursday has an "Out With The Old" challenge. This card is for all 3.

I know. That's a lot riding on one simple card, right? But I have this OLD stampin up stamp from Simply Sweet with all these fancy dresses, this old flower from K and Company from years ago, and who knows how long I have had the DP from K and Company!!

And, obviously, there is a LOT of white and metalic going on here with a white flower and of course the classy dresses. Perfect for the first two challenges mentioned.
This next card is for Cupcake Inspirations. They have this fun photo of the most adorable valentine cupcakes with black, white and red and pink accents. So fun and cheerful! I hope this card did them justice. I used red stickles for the hearts and the shoes and such. What girl doesn't want a pair of shoes like Dorothy's? Right? I also used some old bling that I had lying around for the jewels.
This last card is for Get Sketchy. They had an intriguing sketch and I have been really wanting to make a card with my Stampin Up! butterfly set for awhile with this beautiful paper I found at Hobby Lobby from the Paper Studio. I stamped and embossed the butterfly on vellum and used some distressing techniques to really shabby the card up. And, of course, rhinestones. I am pleased with the outcome.
Hope you all are having a beautiful weekend! We were pleasantly surprised to wake up to a dusting of snow this morning. The perfect day to snuggle. ::sigh:: Stay crafty!

Its release day!

Yay for fun new releases of the odd variety! I apologize for the lateness of my post. Bad mama!

Hope you love! Its really a fantastical release! Lots of fun, and love!!
I just LOVE this image! I love the look on the prince froggie's face and tried to make him look a lil embarrassed too. The paper was a rak from long ago. I used my copics to color this odd lil image and then finished it off with some glitter stickers.

Stay crafty and don't froget to check out the entire release!
